CAMERON ATKINSON, M.D.

Dr. Atkinson is originally from West Deptford, New Jersey and he specializes in hand, wrist, and upper extremities at AOA Orthopedic Specialists. After graduating from Princeton University in June of 2003, he received his Doctor of Medicine at Vanderbilt School of Medicine in May of 2008. Dr. Atkinson completed his Orthopedic Residency at Vanderbilt Department of Orthopedics in June of 2013 and Fellowship at the Philadelphia Hand Center at Thomas Jefferson University in July of 2014.

In addition to his medical accomplishments, Dr. Atkinson is also a multi-talented athlete. As a running back for Princeton University, he excelled both on and off the field. His love of sports transitions into a lifelong passion for strength and weight training. As a proud family man, Dr. Atkinson loves retelling patients the story his favorite memory – when he asked his wife to marry him.

In his free time, he enjoys sitting in his office reading historical biographies and watching his favorite television show, the medical comedy, Scrubs.

CLINTON BELL, M.D.

Dr. Bell joined AOA Orthopedic Specialists in 2019. After earning his medical degree and graduating with honors from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, he completed a five-year Orthopedic Residency at the same institution and a year Fellowship in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas.

Dr. Bell is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons and is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He is recognized by his physician peers by consistently being selected as one of D Magazine’s Best Doctors in Dallas. With his pleasant persona, Dr. Bell is beloved by his patients and is actively involved in the community, providing team support and orthopedic care to several schools in the local area.

Dr. Bell is a native Texan and lives in Midlothian, TX, among the patients that AOA Orthopedic Specialists serves. He is a proud husband and father of three children that continue to keep his schedule outside of work filled and entertaining.

JAMES W. BURNETT, M.D.

Originating from Lodi, California, Dr. Burnett specializes in Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine at AOA Orthopedic Specialists and sits as the current Board President of the Organization.

Dr. Burnett completed Medical School in 1996 at Tulane Medical University (New Orleans), his Residency at Texas A&M University Scott & White Hospital (Temple, TX) in 2001, before serving our country as an Orthopedic Surgeon in the United States Navy until 2004.

Dr. Burnett has been frequently featured as a “Top Doc” in Tarrant County for exemplary surgical and patient care.  As a board-certified Sports Medicine surgeon, he is a multi-accomplished surgeon and is currently affiliated with Baylor, Scott, and White Orthopedic and Spine Hospital at Arlington.  In addition to speaking English, he also speaks Spanish.

Dr. Crawford received his Medical Doctorate from the University of Texas Health Science Center in May of 2007, his Residency at the University of Missouri – Columbia in 2012, and his fellowship in Foot and Ankle Surgery in 2013 at the world-renown Texas Medical Center in Houston, TX.

Between his busy schedule of work and spending time with his family, including his wonderful wife Christina and his three children, Dr. Crawford is an accomplished photographer and has parts of his collection displayed prominently in our AOA Irving Clinic.  He participates in a multitude of activities such as hiking, swimming, running, and watching his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys.

THAD DEAN, D.O.

Dr. Dean studied at the Northwest Missouri State, Kansas City University of Medicine and Bioscience, and did his Residency at Grandview Hospital in Ohio before finishing his medical training at Emory University in Atlanta.

In 2018, Dr. Dean was recognized by the American Cancer Society as the Distinguished Medical Provider of Tarrant County.

Dr. Dean s a lifelong Kansas City Chiefs fan and was no stranger to sports at a young playing several sports. Wrestling from the age of four, he continued into high school, where he also picked up baseball and football.

Dr. Dean is a proud family man and loves everything about Texas. Married to the love of his life, Sarah, who is a physical therapist, the pair reside with their two children in Mansfield, TX.

TROY FOSTER, D.O.

As a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Physiatrist, Dr. Foster has been with AOA Orthopedic Specialists since July of 2015. He obtained his Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the University of N. Texas HSC-Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2011.

Dr. Foster is a lifelong from Ovilla, TX and he actively volunteers in Medical Services at Mission Arlington, Mansfield Cares, and The Arthritis Foundation Preparticipation Physicals, Habitat for Humanity, and several other organizations.

In addition to his medical history, Dr. Foster also enjoys outdoor activities such as backpacking, skiing, fishing, hunting, and spending his free time with his seven-year-old triplets. Dr. Foster describes himself as a “do-it-yourself man” with a passion for traveling as well as maintaining an active lifestyle outside of work.

ANDREW FREESE, M.D.

Originally from Rockwall, Texas, Dr. Freese specializes in sports medicine in all ages at AOA Orthopedic Specialists. After receiving his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2008, Dr. Freese graduated the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He completed his Residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Indiana University in 2017 and spent an additional year of specialty fellowship-training in Orthopedic Sports Medicine at the University of Iowa.

A lifelong sports fan and multi-sport athlete, Dr. Freese proudly served as a Team Physician for the University of Iowa’s football, basketball, and baseball athletic programs and is working with University of Texas at Arlington as a Team Physician with AOA. He aims to support any and all athletic programs in North Texas as well as offers innovative Sports Science approaches to complex sports injuries.

CHRIS HOPKINS, M.D.

Originally from Marble Falls, Texas, Dr. Hopkins performs a “suture free” endoscopic carpal tunnel release technique and is published and has presented research on pediatric forearm fractures, lateral epicondylitis, and distal radius fractures.

After graduating from The University of Texas at Austin in June of 2008, he then received his Doctor of Medicine at University of Texas Medical Branch in May of 2012, Orthopedic Residency at The Campbell Clinic (Memphis, Tennessee) in June of 2017 and Fellowship at Tufts Medical Center and New England Baptist Hospital in July of 2017.

Dr. Hopkins is also an avid runner and enjoys participating in marathons. In his free time, he enjoys traveling with his wife and daughter, reading, weight training and playing tennis.

MARK KAZEWYCH, M.D.

Originally from Union Lake, Michigan, Dr. Kazewych graduated from Kettering University (GMI Engineering and Management Institute) in 1990 but  later decided to pursue a career in medicine and attended Northeastern Ohio Universities College Of Medicine. Dr. Kazewych graduated Medical School in 1995 and Residency at Henry Ford Health Systems.

Dr. Kazewych has had over 20 years of experience and he has been recognized by Americas Top Orthopedic Surgeons as well as Good Morning Texas. In 2018 he became the Official Team Physician of the University of Texas at Arlington Athletics. In 2022, he was selected as the Lead Orthopedic Surgeon for the WNBA’s Dallas Wings.

Dr Kazewych has used his engineering background to assist in design and manufacturing of orthopedic implants.  He is currently active as an FDA researcher for the national research study of Cartiheal, a cutting-edge new technology to restore damaged cartilage.

Outside of his busy work schedule he makes time to watch and coach his sons in hockey.

R. MILLS ROBERTS, M.D.

Originally from Amarillo, TX, Dr. Roberts completed his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch in 1990. In 1995, he completed his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at the University of Missouri Kansas City. He then completed his Fellowship at San Diego Arthroscopic & Sports Medicine in 1996.

Dr. Roberts volunteers much of his time to organizations and is the Team Physician for colleges, events, and high schools. He currently serves as the team physician for the University of Dallas, the Dallas Diamonds WNFL, and Irving High School. He has been recognized on multiple occasions by Texas Monthly Super Doc and he has experience as the visiting professor at the Association of Mexican Orthopedics and Traumatology in Tijuana, Mexico.

Outside of work, Dr. Roberts enjoys water and snow skiing, cheering on his alma mater, the “Fightin’ Texas Aggies,” and spending time with his four children.

JAY POND, M.D.

As one of the original founding members of Arlington Orthopedic Associate, Dr. Pond has been practicing General Orthopedics for over 25 years. Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Pond specializes in silver-coated implants for joint replacements, which drastically reduces the chance of infection during recovery.

Dr. Pond completed Medical School at UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas in 1990, his internship and his specialty-training at Barnes Hospital Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri from 1991 to 1995.

Dr. Pond participates in mission work through Faith in Practice, a faith-based medical mission team that travels to Guatemala numerous times each year to perform surgeries on underprivileged patients. He has been affiliated with the organization for five years.

Dr. Pond spends his free time playing sports with his three children and maintaining a healthy lifestyle by cycling.

ERIC WIESER, M.D.

A lifelong Texan, Dr. Wieser has been in practice for nearly 15 years. After graduating with honors from Trinity University in 1994, Dr. Wieser completed Medical School with honors from the Baylor College of Medicine.  In 2003, he finished his Residency at Vanderbilt University.

Following his Fellowship in Spine Medicine at the prestigious UCLA School of Medicine, Dr. Wieser returned to North Texas and joined the staff of Arlington Orthopedic Associates where he became one of the co-founders of the Baylor Orthopedic and Spine Hospital in Arlington.

In addition to his many professional accolades, Dr. Wieser is the founder and medical director of the Texas Comprehensive Spine Center He has been consistently recognized by his peers as a “Top Doc” in Fort Worth Magazine, Big D Magazine, Living Magazine, Texas Monthly, and has been featured in several periodicals in Texas.

Aside from his medical accomplishments, Dr. Wieser is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hunting, fishing, running, going to the lake, and cheering on his favorite sports team, the Dallas Cowboys.
