The JPC is a referral center and does the complicated operative procedures of Carticel. (Articular Cartilage is harvested from the patient, grown and cultured in a special laboratory to increase the chondrocyte numbers, then the cells are re-implanted into the patient’s knee to fill joint surface defects thereby preserving the joint function and decreasing the chance of future arthritis.)
